Winter Riding
February 10th, 2010It’s early February and winter is by no means over up here in Eureka. After some early big snow we’ve been pretty dry and warm with most days in the mid 30’s. I’ve been itching to get outside on my cross bike but the warm days and below freezing nights has brought lots of icy conditions. Roads that are normally snow-packed have been more akin to ice rinks.
The past few weeks of high 30’s and even some low 40’s has pretty much dried out all the best roads around so I got out for a nice road ride last Wednesday. Refreshing is the best way to describe riding in the cool winter air. Beautiful as well, the winter scenery can be just as spectacular as the summer. I was even joined by some wildlife as I rolled south from the Canadian border.

A little blurry, I know
Well, hopefully we won’t see much more snow in the valley as it’s about time for me to start putting in some long training days. I will also be starting group rides on Saturdays pretty quick so check my ride calendar over the next week or two. Or if your looking to get out on the bike give me a call, I’m always up for a ride and Eureka is the ‘bannana belt’ of Montana.
Ride on,
T.
